Leeds Castle Wedding Photographer

I have photographed weddings at Leeds Castle over the years, and it remains a wonderful setting for an imaginative approach to wedding photography. The castle, water and surrounding grounds provide the sense of occasion; the people bring the personality. My aim is to photograph both. Based in Maidstone, I photograph weddings across Kent, London and Europe. Leeds Castle has its own distinctive character, and I approach each celebration with fresh eyes. Your photographs should reflect the way the day feels, whether you are planning an intimate gathering or a larger celebration with family and friends.
A grand setting, a personal story
A beautiful building is a beginning, rather than the whole photograph. I look for the exchanges between people, the atmosphere as guests arrive and the small, unscripted moments alongside the more considered portraits. My background in advertising and editorial photography informs the way I use composition and light, while a documentary approach keeps the day feeling like yours. Some photographs need a little direction; others are strongest when I let events unfold. I enjoy that balance. We might make a striking portrait using the architecture or reflections, then return to the conversations and laughter that tell another part of the story. The aim is a varied collection that feels connected to the people in it.
The castle already has battlements. There is no need for military precision in every photograph.
Making time for photographs at Leeds Castle
A short walk together can give us a change of background and a little breathing space between the celebrations. We can agree a concise family group list beforehand and plan portraits around your ceremony, reception and the areas available to you. Before the wedding, it helps to talk through the photographs that matter most to you, any important family relationships and how much time you would like to spend on portraits. There is no need for a lengthy list of copied poses. A clear plan gives us more freedom to notice something unexpected, while making sure the essential family photographs are included.
On a bright day, softer light or open shade may work better than standing directly in the sunshine. Later light can offer another opportunity, but a wedding timetable should not depend on the weather keeping its promises. It is Kent, after all.
Planning for the light and the season
For a winter wedding, I suggest allowing time for outdoor photographs earlier, while daylight remains. In warmer months, there may be scope for a brief evening portrait session. We will discuss the forecast and indoor alternatives with the venue, rather than assume every room or location will be available.
